Hiking the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, Twice with Ned Rozell

  • Noel Wien Library 1215 Cowles Street Fairbanks, AK, 99701 United States (map)

In 1997, Ned Rozell became the first person with a dog to hike the 800 miles of gravel service road that parallels the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. In 2017, he became the second. Why would anyone want to walk next to a pipe? What has changed? Join Arctic Audubon Society and Ned Rozell to learn more.

Ned has been a science writer for the University of Alaska, Fairbanks Geophysical Institute for 25 years. He lives off the ski trails north of campus with his wife Kristen, daughter Anna, and dogs Cora and Pepe, the latter of which came home as a surprise from the Farmer’s Market.
